Looks like it's Obama and McCain

Recent polls show Obama ahead of McCain by 7 points in a head to head general election, but that does not factor in the Hillary folks. If he gets a large percentage of the hard core Clinton voters he'll have a nice 16 point lead going into the general election in June.
However, if they rebel and vote for McCain he'll have a very difficult battle. It all depends on how many West Virginia types are out there and if the Rev. Wright factor continues to haunt Obama. Red Neck's Opinion is that the new ads by Obama regarding his Christianity are a bit over the top. He needs to calm down and get that particular fact across in a much more subtle way and not blanket the rest of the states with the recent mailing.
The combination of wearing the flag pin, recently, and the new ads aren't necessary. When was it required that one must wear a flag pin to prove their patriotism, or make a proclamation in the newspapers of one's Christianity?
Edward's endorsement means little. This is a man out for the V.P. slot. For whatever reason voters have not embraced Edwards so he could be a drag. Red Neck's Opinion is that Obama should make nice to Mrs. Clinton and get her support.
Of course an Obama-Clinton ticket would ensure a win in the general but pride may prohibit that scenario. The other danger is keeping the race issue alive by the Obama friends who, apparently, don't realize it "is not" a big issue.
These folks making an issue out of a non issue could be Obama's worst enemy. If they continue that could create 50 West Virginia like States! Obama has wide support with all races why create a racist issue where none exists.. to any meaningful extent?
If continued they could even put McCain in the White House.
Right now you certainly cannot count McCain out, the guy can turn on the charm and maybe bring back the straight talk that folks liked about him. McCain had huge support until he fell in love with George Bush or pretended to. He "has" to separate himself from Bush or he won't have a chance.
The issues are the economy and health-care. The war is a fairly distant second right now.
