The Legend of Gelert
In 13th. century Wales a prince named Llywelyn who went hunting without his favorite hound, Gelert. When he returned he found the dog covered with blood and the cradle of his son turned over. He assumed the dog had killed his son. He drew his sword and killed his dog. At that moment he heard his son cry out, he turned the cradle over and saw that his son was not injured and the body of a dead wolf lay near the by. Gelert had saved the boy's life. Filled with regret he vowed that Gelert shall never be forgotten and a granite stone stands to this day said to mark the grave of Gelert.
